A permanent position did not hinder his career:
he spent several months each year travelling and giving concerts all over Europe.
In 1872-74 he went to the United States on a long tour with Anton Rubinstein.
On his return he accepted a professorship at the Conservatory in Brussels, which he held from 1874 to 1877.
By the end of his life serious health problems somewhat limited his concert activities,
but in 1879 he nevertheless undertook a long concert tour of Russia.
Wieniawski's playing delighted audiences thanks to his unusual technical mastery,
the singing quality of his sound and his great power of expression.
